Richard began his “Splash Painting” series following his exposure to the work of Jackson Pollock. Inspired by Pollock’s expressive freedom and physical approach to painting, Richard developed his own technique, combining dynamic paint application with his distinctive “My Girl” series layered above. The series has been running since 2006 and forms part of an ongoing annual practice. At the close of each year, Richard creates these splash pieces using remaining studio paints before preparing new palettes for the year ahead. The result is a spontaneous yet intentional composition that captures both material history and artistic evolution.
